My son, Nathan Daniel Sekhar was born on Christmas Day, just three days before my wife's very own birthday. Sadly, Abigail Nadia Sekhar, the younger of my two, did not make it to the list of December babies in my family of four as she was born on the 27th of October, the horrible time when primary school exams would be going on. Well, she has just one more year to go before she can celebrate her birthday with joy with no exams to bother her. This will be short-lived though. To be precise, just three years before she will sit for her "O" levels- Sheesh! - another bad time to want to have a birthday party.</span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;">Well being a Christmas baby may not necessarily be a good idea. People may short-change you and give you just one present as they wish you "Happy Birthday and a merry Christmas to you!" It had happened on quite a few occasions and Nathan felt cheated, especially when family and friends were invited. Being his parents, we made it a point to always give him two gifts - one for Christmas and one for his birthday so that he would always know that his parents would never do such a horrible thing like that.</span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;">Kids today are really blessed as back in those bad old days, (sob!) we were too poor to have our birthdays celebrated and rarely received gifts. Those days, I could only dream of owning a bike as it was considered a luxury if your parents buy you one .
